Learn by listening with AI: study away from the screen

Learn by listening with AI: Listen reads each Explain Mode section aloud, so you can rest your eyes, take notes and keep learning at your own pace.

Some days your eyes are done before your brain is. After a long shift, a day of lectures or an evening of homework, one more page of text feels impossible. That is when it helps to learn by listening, and LearningClarity’s AI tutor can read the lesson to you.

After a long shift, one more page feels impossible.

The feature is called Listen. It lives inside Explain Mode, the interactive tutor that teaches a subtopic one short section at a time. Press Listen and the current explanation is read aloud. Select Next when you are ready, and you move on at your own pace.

How to learn by listening in Explain Mode

Press Listen, and the lesson is read aloud.

The flow is simple:

  1. Open a topic and choose the subtopic you want to study.
  2. Start Explain Mode and let the first section appear.
  3. Press Listen to hear it, then select Next for the following section.

If a section goes over your head, Simplify rephrases it in simpler terms. If it feels too easy, Explain Further adds detail and examples. You can also ask your own question about the section or ask for an example. And because explanations are adapted to the learner’s age, a teenager and an adult hear an explanation pitched at their own level.

3 moments when audio learning with AI helps

When your eyes need a break. Lean back, close your eyes and let the explanation come to you. Many learners find that hearing an idea, rather than reading it, makes it land differently.

When you want to take notes by hand. Listen while you write on paper. You keep your attention on the idea instead of switching back and forth between the screen and your notebook. This suits auditory learners especially well.

When you are learning with someone. A parent and child can listen to a section together and talk about it before moving on. A trainer can play a section to a small group as a starting point for discussion.

If you stop halfway, Resume takes you back to where you left off, so a short listening session is never wasted.

Listen first, then check what stayed

Hearing an explanation is not the same as remembering it. That is why Explain Mode adds Knowledge Checks, multiple-choice questions during the explanation with feedback on your answer. If you get one wrong, Retry lets you try again. When you feel ready for more practice, Quiz Mode lets you choose subtopics and question types, with an “I don’t know” option that gives a truer picture than guessing.

When one section at a time is not enough, you can go bigger: turn a whole topic into an AI podcast, a two-voice conversation between a host and an expert guest.

Give your eyes a rest tonight and try learning by ear with LearningClarity. Every new account starts with a free first week.

Frequently asked questions

In Explain Mode, Listen reads the current explanation aloud, so you can follow the lesson by ear instead of reading it.

Yes. Besides helping auditory learners, it lets you keep studying away from the screen, for example while you rest your eyes or take notes on paper.

Can I listen to a whole topic at once?

Listen reads one section at a time. For a longer listen, you can turn a topic or a subtopic into an AI-generated podcast episode, a two-voice conversation between a host and an expert guest.
